25 years of Business Fitness: Tim Wilson on change and consistency

Tim Wilson, Support Manager, 19 years at Business Fitness

As Business Fitness celebrates 25 years, few people can tell its story quite like Tim Wilson.

Having spent 19 years at Business Fitness, Tim has witnessed the transformation over the years firsthand. "Honestly, almost everything has changed," Tim laughs. "When I joined in 2007, we were a team of around 15 people working from one office. Today, we're an organisation of more than 60 people."

Over the years, Tim has seen the company evolve through multiple generations of products, technologies and ways of working.

"The products have grown light-years beyond what they used to be. AI has gone from something we'd never even discussed to becoming part of our everyday work."

For someone who has spent nearly two decades supporting clients, those changes represent more than just technology. They reflect Business Fitness' ongoing commitment to helping firms work more effectively. "It's been incredible watching the business grow and evolve around me, but what I find most rewarding is seeing the impact those changes have had on our clients."

Despite the significant growth, Tim believes the purpose behind the business has remained remarkably consistent. "Even though the products and the way we talk about them have changed completely, the goal underneath it all hasn't moved an inch. We're still here to make accountants' lives easier."

He also points to another constant that has helped shape the company's success over the past 25 years: leadership. "One of the things that's remained steady throughout my time here has been the leadership at the top. I honestly don't think we'd be where we are today without our CEO steering the ship."

As Support Manager, Tim has spent much of his career listening to clients, understanding their challenges and helping them get the most from our software solutions. That connection to clients gives him confidence in what lies ahead.

"We're already a leader in our space, but I genuinely believe we're on track to become a dominant force in the industry."

For Tim, the future is exciting because of where the Active Platform is headed, and because he's been part of the journey for so long. "Next year I'll reach my 20-year milestone, which feels pretty special. When I look back at everything that's changed over that time, it makes me even more excited about what's still to come. To have been part of the journey for nearly two decades has been incredibly rewarding. The best part is that I still feel like we're only getting started."
