[AU] August Product Update

This month's release introduces Draft Journals across both Active Workpapers and Active Ledger & Reporting — save a journal before it's finalised, even if it's unbalanced or missing information, so nothing is lost if you're interrupted partway through.

Active Ledger & Reporting also ships a set of report authoring improvements this month: post an adjusting journal directly from a report drill-in, apply bold and italic formatting to report footers, mark individual source accounts as consolidated for per-line elimination, and extend account layout customisation — rename, force-show, disclosure links — down to child accounts.

New Features
Draft Journals

You can now save a journal as draft - even if it's unbalanced or missing information - instead of losing your work if you're interrupted partway through raising it.

What this means for you:

  • Draft journals are listed separately from finalised ones, so it's always clear what's still in progress
  • Drafts don't affect reports (e.g. the Balancing Journal report) or adjustment figures until they're completed
  • Applies to the journal screens in both Active Workpapers and Active Ledger & Reporting.
iManage Cloud integration (optional add-on)

Active Workpapers now connects directly to iManage Cloud. You can search your iManage libraries and copy documents into a binder from inside Active, and export completed binders back to iManage.

  • What this means for you:
  • No switching between applications to find source documents
  • No downloading and re-uploading files by hand
  • Completed binders land in iManage in the right place, in one step

Available as a paid add-on. Contact us to enable it for your practice.

New Features
Add Journal from Report Drill-In

When you drill into a report figure to see its underlying transactions, you can now post an adjusting journal directly from that pop-up without leaving the report.

What this means for you:

  • No need to jump out to the journal screen and back to fix a figure you're already looking at
  • The report figure and transaction list update immediately once the journal is saved
Bold & Italic Report Footers

Report footers now support bold and italic text formatting, using the same rich-text editor already available for report paragraphs.

What this means for you:

  • Formatting carries through correctly to HTML, PDF, Word and Excel exports
  • In Excel, a formatted footer that would be too long automatically falls back to plain text rather than breaking the export
  • Existing plain-text and image-only footers are unaffected
Draft Journals

As mentioned above in Active Workpapers, you can now save a journal as draft - even if it's unbalanced or missing information - instead of losing your work if you're interrupted partway through raising it.
